# How to chat with ChurchTools users from other congregations?

When you start new chats in Web Chat, you have the option to use a ChurchTools user’s *chat ID*. This user doesn’t have to be from your congregation—and therefore part of your ChurchTools—but it’s enough if their congregation also uses ChurchTools. So ask them for their *chat ID* or share yours—that way, you can chat across congregations.

**Tip**

Once the chat has been started in Web Chat, you can then view it in your chats in the ChurchTools app and use it to chat with users of other ChurchTools systems.
