# How to cancel transactions

With ChurchTools you can cancel transactions very easily and, above all, correctly.

## 1. Select and cancel the transaction

In the ***transaction overview*** (1) of the Finance module open up the ***3-dot-menu*** (2) of the incorrect transaction and ***cancel*** (3) the transaction.

After you have entered the ***reason for the cancellation*** (4), you confirm the cancellation.

**Note**

The reason for the cancellation makes it clear to the cash auditor why you have cancelled the transaction.

## 2. Cancellation transaction is created automatically

With the confirmation, the ***cancelled transaction*** (1) is marked as ***cancelled*** (2) in the overview. ChurchTools has automatically created a ***cancellation transaction*** (3) with a corresponding note in the transaction text. The two transactions are ***linked*** (4) so that you can easily find the transactions that belong together.

**Note**

Cancelled donation transactions are not treated as donation transactions and are not listed on the donation receipt!

## 3. Reverse cancellation transactions

As long as the cancelled transaction has not yet been locked, you can delete the cancellation transaction by clicking on the ***trash can symbol*** (1) behind the transaction. The cancellation mark on the original transaction will then automatically disappear.

**Warning**

Once the transaction has been recorded, the cancellation can no longer be deleted.
