# How to enter my absences?

You can enter in ChurchTools when you are absent, e.g. because you are going on vacation or are ill. This is very helpful for duty planning, for example, because the people planning can then see directly whether or not you are available for a role.

To enter a new absence, open the drop-down menu (1) next to the *Create appointment button* and select *Enter own absence* (2).

Enter all the information in the modal that opens and click on *Save*.

Your absences are saved and displayed in a separate calendar so that you can edit or delete absences that have already been recorded by clicking on the corresponding calendar entry.
