# How to contact the parents of my children’s group?

Anyone who works with people knows that agreements have to be made. Making arrangements with children is just as important and the parents of these children should also be informed. You have various options for contacting the parents of these children without them having to be members of the children's groups.

## Parents of individual children

If you always want to contact a child's parents directly, for example because the child is still too young, the easiest way to do this is to set a parent's e-mail as the default e-mail in the child's personal profile.

**Note**

In fact, in this case only *one* e-mail address can be contacted at a time and not several e-mail addresses within a personal profile.

If the child has their own e-mail, but you still want to contact the parents, use the relationships in the child's personal profile, switch to the parent's profile and send your e-mail.

## Several parents

In the Persons module, the *More filters*include the *[Relationship filter](https://staging.churchtools.academy/en/help/churchtools-modules/basics-people/filter/#3-toc-title)*. You can use these to filter out parents of a group type or certain groups.

**Tip**

You can save your filter settings as a [filter group](https://staging.churchtools.academy/en/help/churchtools-modules/basics-people/filter/#5-toc-title) for later use if necessary. You can always use filter groups if you want to use queries with the same prerequisites repeatedly. The filter groups do not save the parents as such, as in a regular group, but the filter conditions you have selected. We explain exactly how this works in the article on [filters in the Persons module](https://staging.churchtools.academy/en/help/churchtools-modules/basics-people/filter/).

This means that you can always filter and contact the current parents of your children's group or children's department from the list of people with just one click. The prerequisite for this is, of course, that the relationships in the person profiles are correctly maintained.

You can use the checkboxes next to the names of the filtered parents to customize whether you want to continue working with all or only selected parents from the filter result.

You can now either [contact](https://staging.churchtools.academy/de/help/churchtools-module/kommunikation-personen/0-personen-kontaktieren/) the parents you have selected directly or add them to a group with *bulk actions*, which you can then use to reach everyone with e-mails, posts or group chats.
